A song that has been laying around unfinished for ages. I've finally managed to finish this thanks to some perfect lines added by my friend James, so we share writing credits on this one.

The badge she wore / said her name was Nicky
First day at work / handing back money / was still tricky

She made a mistake / didn't give me change enough
Just turned sixteen / first jobs can be though

She was sitting there / with her dog / in the train
Hair all gray / feet hurt from walking / but she won't complain

Wrinkles in her face / A bag, holding her stuff
growing older can sometimes / be so tough

She must have been / so beautiful / when she was young
like a girl named Nicky / Wearing a badge / with her name

She was once young / With a passion for life
But her bosses came along / with a surgical knife.

Cut out someones passion / her joy and her smile
Leave her with an empty shell / who wished / she could die

So if the day comes / they'll send Nicky home
I hope she won't be / so all alone /
